NEW COURSE: Certified Estate Sale Fiduciary Certification

The estate sale industry is built on trust. Every day, estate sale operators are entrusted with access to clients’ homes, personal property, family heirlooms, financial assets, and private information. Clients cannot personally oversee every transaction, discovery, conversation, or decision that occurs during the course of a project, so they must rely on the honesty, integrity, and professionalism of the estate sale operator they have hired.

Despite the significant responsibility placed on estate sale professionals, there has never been a credential specifically focused on fiduciary principles, ethical decision-making, and professional standards within estate sale operations. That is why I created the Certified Estate Sales Fiduciary (CESF) designation.

The Certified Estate Sales Fiduciary (CESF) program is designed for estate sale operators who want to demonstrate their commitment to ethical conduct, fiduciary responsibility, and professional business practices. While many training programs focus on pricing, staging, marketing, or appraisals, CESF focuses on the responsibilities that come with being entrusted to manage another person’s property and represent their interests.

Throughout the program, participants will explore real-world situations that estate sale operators encounter every day, including conflicts of interest, client confidentiality, discovery of previously unknown assets, handling client funds, professional standards, financial accountability, and ethical decision-making. Rather than focusing on theory alone, the program challenges operators to think critically about the decisions they make and the responsibilities they assume when working on behalf of a client.

Many people associate fiduciary responsibilities with attorneys, trustees, financial advisors, and real estate professionals. However, estate sale operators routinely find themselves in situations that require the same level of trust and judgment. Whether discovering hidden valuables in a home, managing client proceeds, handling employee purchases, or navigating conflicts between personal interests and client interests, operators are often required to make decisions that can significantly affect the outcome of a project.

Professional standards matter because the estate sale industry is increasingly visible to the public. Estate sales are regularly featured on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Whatnot, reseller channels, and other social media platforms. A single estate sale can be viewed by thousands of people, and the actions of one company can influence how the public perceives estate sale companies generally. Professional conduct helps build confidence in the industry, while poor decisions can damage trust not only in a single company but in estate sale services as a whole.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Professional Credential Package that includes a digital CESF certificate, a CESF certification badge, a downloadable Estate Sale Code of Ethics, and permission to display the CESF credential on websites, marketing materials, social media profiles, and email signatures.

The Certified Estate Sales Fiduciary designation is intended for professionals who want to strengthen client trust, enhance their credibility, and demonstrate a commitment to ethical business practices. It recognizes estate sale operators who have completed training in fiduciary principles, ethical decision-making, and professional business practices applicable to estate sale operations.

Enrollment in the Certified Estate Sales Fiduciary (CESF) program is currently available at a launch price of $149. If you believe that professionalism, integrity, accountability, and trust should be foundational principles within the estate sale industry, I invite you to learn more about the designation and consider becoming CESF certified.
